Concrete Protection Linings

Concrete structures can be protected from chemical or environmental degradation by means of a loose or cast-in geosynthetic lining system. The geosynthetic lining system serves as either a rehabilitating or chemical resistance barrier. A HDPE liner is utilized for leaking concrete reservoirs or dams as a method of rehabilitating the structure without being overly dependent on the underlying concrete finish or quality. A Protection geotextile can be incorporated over the compromised concrete and the geomembrane can span small voids or cracks ultimately waterproofing the structure.

HDPE lined pipes are utilized in sewer or hazardous applications. These pipes are specified as gasses in the aerobic sections of the concrete sewer pipes feed bacteria. This bacteria excretes liquids that result in the degeneration of the concrete used in the manufacture of the pipes.

Pipes lined with HDPE lining is protected against such degradation as HDPE is chemically inert. Another added benefit of HDPE lined concrete pipes is the friction coefficient of the pipes is substantially improved due to the smoother HDPE lining.

Often a smaller diameter pipe might be used as a result of the improved internal flow of the HDPE lined pipe, leading to project savings.

Various lining specifications can be considered for these applications and we are available to offer technical input where required.
