Double Lined Structures

Water storage structures where valuable or extremely harmful liquids are stored require double lining systems. The function of these double lined structures is to create a medium where potential leaks can be effectively picked up with a secondary underlying lining system.

These designs are implemented where gas (methane or otherwise) might be present or where leaks would result in huge financial losses. These dams are double lined with an impermeable lining system. Between the primary and secondary lining system a flownet, cuspated sheet, or a geotextile is incorporated to create an artificial flow path.

Leakage detection pipes are installed from the drainage layer, draining into detection sumps, to ensure effective monitoring of the integrity of the primary lining system.
